As BSP prepare to visit such European hotspots as Warsaw Hydrozagadka and
the Nouveau Casino of Paris, the band are making ready a new small-edition
CD – to feature, among other tracks, the new single version of Georgie Ray
and a live version of Bear. There is also a BSP remixes CD on the horizon.
More news soon. But, in the meantime, there’s only only retail opportunity
in town…
The BSP-themed book Do It For Your Mum is now ready for purchase on line:
www.doitforyourmum.com
Written by Roy Wilkinson, ex-manager of the band and brother of BSP’s Yan
and Hamilton, the book is a non-fiction account of family life and rock
music. It sets a strange family tale against broad horizons - Czech
werewolves, the Dutch East Indies, the English Lake District and, not
least, the BSP brethren’s father. Ronald Wilkinson is an 87-year-old
ex-World War Two anti-aircraft gunner who has reinvented himself as a
crazed follower of the contemporary indie-rock experience. Read on
carefully as he single-handedly seeks destroy both the RAF and Mumford &
Sons…
The reaction to Do It For Your Mum has been encouraging…
MOJO: “Spirited, comic… unbound imagination over mere reality… a
Father’s Day gift in waiting.” ****
GQ: “Brilliant… the funniest rock book in years.”
The Guardian: “Fascinating… funny.”
Record Collector: “Exciting, life-affirming stuff… As heart-warming as it
is hilarious.” ****
www.louderthanwar.com: “An astonishing and thought-provoking book – an
effortless, enjoyable and compulsive read.”
Dorian Lynskey, author of 33 Revolutions Per Minute (Faber & Faber): “The
funniest, fondest rock memoir I’ve ever read.”
Nicky Wire (via Twitter): “Really enjoying roy wilkinson’s book ‘do it for
your mum’ – british sea power+a lot more-funny-sad and very engaging x”.
Hamilton of British Sea Power, Hastings and Skye: “Great, great, great,
bloody great!”
Please note that the book is a limited edition of 2,011 and will only be
available from a few outlets – at selected BSP shows, from a handful of
shops and via the www.doitforyourmum website.
The ‘official’ release date for the book is 3 October. But we will treat
current purchases as ‘pre-orders’ and endeavour to get the book in the post
as soon as possible. Orders have already been coming in at a steady rate
and our dedicated lick-and-pack team are now applying themselves to the
growing sales escarpment. Initial orders will come with a free bonus
heritage BSP bookmark. For images of the book and more information, please

Happy shopping. But, if venturing into Kendal, watch out for the ghost of
Frankie the tramp by the bowls pitch behind the Abbot Hall…
