4 September 2012Newsboost Italianate Creosote – 31 August 2012
*Wales with Spiritualized, sloths and sautéed seaweed.
*The Netherlands with Laibach, free tickets and Sex Worker.
*Exclusive film fantasia in seaboard home of brutish Amanda Holden.
*Ancient retainer reads pages from a book – how can it get any better?!
Watch out! We have news and views from the permanently big-ballin’
live-on-tour concert scene. Thanks to everyone who came to the BSP spot
last week at posh Voewood House in Norfolk. Great times with free gin and
two Twix for the price of one on the railways. The next day there were
spoonbill, marsh harriers and potato salad on the coastal reaches. Next up – a premium preview briefing of forthcoming BSP spots in Wales, the
Netherlands and mysterious Bournemouth.
The itinerary is as follows:
Thurs 13 Sept – Severn Valley Railway, Kidderminster, UK (SOLD OUT)
Fri 14 Sept – No.6 Festival, Portmeirion, Gwynedd, north Wales, UK
Sun 16 Sept – Incubate Festival, Tilburg, Netherlands
Sat 27 Oct – The Pier Theatre, Bournemouth, UK
All these outings promise to be variously wunderbar. BSP will head directly
from the heritage platform complex at the Severn Valley Railway to the
outrageous Italianate enclave of Portmeirion in Wales – of course the
setting from the TV immortal The Prisoner. The No.6 Festival looks likes a
astonishing production – New Order, Spiritualized and the Scream in this
remarkable seaside setting. And, alongside BSP on the much-loved Caught By
The River’s Estuary Stage, a great weekend line-up that includes Savages,
King Creosote, Stealing Sheep, author Richard King, sensual sloth expert
Lucy Cooke and New Order’s Stephen Morris in conversation with Joy Division
happy-snapper Kevin Cummins. Before BSP headline the Estuary Stage on the
Friday night, Roy Wilkinson will be reading from his BSP-themed book Do It
For Your Mum, scheduled for 5.15pm on the Friday.
And then to romantic Tilburg, where BSP are playing alongside Damo Suzuki,
Laibach, Mogwai, Silver Apples and Sex Worker. And not forgetting Fields Of
The Nephilim. Again, a Roy Wilkinson reading will precede the BSP
performance. Roy is scheduled for 1515h on Saturday 15 Sept, at an event
also featuring John Robb and The Quietus, plus live flute from BBC Clare.
This talk is part of Incubate’s DIY Conference, a series of talks on
contemporary culture and the musical-industrial complex. In mega-Dutch
style you can pay whatever you like for the DIY Conference element! For

A little further into the future, BSP are heading to Bournemouth, notorious
haunt of Mary Shelley, Radclyffe Hall and Amanda Holden. The band will play
in person on stage out on the pier – adding a live rendition of their
soundtrack to a screening of the film From The Sea To The Land Beyond.
